Message from the President
Welcome to the Irvine Police Association (IPA) website. The IPA is the sole bargaining unit representing the sworn Police Officers, Senior Police Officers and Sergeants of the Irvine Police Department. Our members are bound by the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, as well as the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Irvine Police Department. We are dedicated to the law enforcement profession and to our community. We take great pride in providing the highest level of service to the citizens of Irvine. This dedication and commitment to service is evident by our current standing as “America’s Safest City” for the past five years.
The IPA’s primary purpose is the promotion, protection and enhancement of the lives and profession of our membership. We accomplish this with a highly credible negotiating team, strong political action committee and participation in issues and coalitions to protect our member’s rights such as OC Cops, CCLEA, CPOMF and others. We work with the City of Irvine, Management of the Police Department and others who affect our lives to create an enjoyable and cooperative working environment for our members. We also are active participants in the community, County and State as applicable by sponsoring events throughout the year where our members and their families can interact and build lasting relationships.
Many of our members and their families are involved individually in the community through athletic clubs, religious groups, and community outreach projects. Collectively as an association we strongly encourage community involvement and participation in the legal, legislative and political arenas.
The Irvine Police Association has consistently reinvested in our community through monetary contributions and by donating our time to various community events. We believe that today’s youth are the future leaders of our community and therefore seek to support qualified youth and charitable programs in every way possible. A list of the various charities and community groups that we support through monetary and time commitments can be viewed in the “IPA in the Community” section of this site.
More information about the history of the Irvine Police Department, the current IPA Board of Directors, as well as general information can be found by exploring the various sections of the website.
I would like to thank you for your support and for your interest in the Irvine Police Association. We look forward to serving you, and welcome any comments.
Gary Wyatt
President
